'One Flee Spare' and Constance Smedley in Stroud

Firstly Constance Smedley (founder of Cotswold Players and international literary celebrity) featured in a great play that was put on recently by the Ruscombe-base Stroud Theatre Company - see here - well now you can learn more about this woman in a talk at The Museum - see here. Frank Hatt who wrote the play will talk about this dynamic woman’s impact on the cultural life of the Stroud valleys during the years leading up to the First World War. Booking necessary - call 01453 763394.

Secondly last night at Star Anise in Stroud I went to see 'One Flee Spare' played by the Stroud based Red Dog Theatre Company....grim, compelling and thought-provoking with moments of meeting and tenderness wonderfully acted....a play written by the award winning Naomi Wallace. It plays again tonight at 7.30 pm - tickets are £10 and can be purchased from the cafe in person or over the phone on 01453 840021.
Here is a comment from a Randwick resident who went Friday night: "Went to the theatre last night, a play called` One flea spare , a brilliant performance, that had me riveted to my chair, for over 2 hours, about the black death, costumes and set fabulous.
