Open Studios again this weekend - last chance to catch the artists exhibiting - as noted in a previous blog the 2010 site festival is "a contemporary arts festival which aims to showcase artist-led projects with a full and exciting programme of visual arts, performance, music, artist talks and workshops."
Photos: those great flags flying on the Merrywalks footbridge - then below peeping into Teresa Poole's studio in Thrupp and the Gloucestershire Printmaking Coop at Griffin Mill - then Rachel Markwick who uses stamps in many of her pieces - one of her pieces entitled Pink Gaudi - she recently ran a workshop for pupils at Whiteshill School. Lastly Gypsy exhibiting dancers in Star Anise cafe - not part of the Open Studios trail but still enjoyed them - it seems every corner of Stroud has some creativity flowing.
It's the 14th year and over 470 artists are exhibiting their work in 76 sites across the Stroud Valleys this month - including three artists from our area participating in the Open Studios - Dorte Shelley, Jackie Garner and Roger R. James. See complete programme of events at: www.sva.org.uk/
Oooohps correction made 26/06/10: it is in fact Roger R. Jones and not Roger R. James - I knew that - not sure what went wrong!
Love the Open Studios - it feels a real priviledge to be shown into see an artists work and sometimes home and garden space to share in their creative work - and often hear more about the process....last weekend I managed to catch quite a few of the studios on both the Saturday and Sunday - hope to see more this weekend.
Of course there are also lots of events - see here - sadly what with street party meeting, Green party meeting, Scrutiny at the Council and more, I have not had the chance to go to any this week.
