Well my Norwegian partner taught me and her granddaughter how to make snow lanterns (see photos) yesterday evening after yet more sledging - the kids seem to still be loving the snow but my enjoyment is starting to wear thin as it makes so much of ordinary living so hard!
Anyhow why have I never made lanterns before? Oh so simple and look so great. Basically roll some snowballs and build a tower of them then stick a candle inside and sit back and enjoy.....ours were carefully placed close to the house and we used a couple of left over Christmas tree candles....
