Formula One racing?

Recently got sent a couple of links from a Grand Prix racing website - written by one of our local Conservative District councllors, Rob Sinfield - should I be flattered that my name is nearly being used? Here's a plug for his website which also seems to link with the ITV site - see the piece here. Yes as you will see his column is about many things - but Green it is not.

In another column Rob Sinfield writes:

The news that the FIA is pushing ahead with plans to introduce “green” technology, promoting renewable energy in Formula 1, has prompted environmental groups to take an interest in the sport.

A spokesman for one pressure group, John Herbgarden, told us today that there may even soon be a fully-fledged green F1 team.

“F1 would be perfect for us to tell the world about the energy crisis, greenhouse gases and all that," he said.

He droned on: “Of course, the cars would have to run on bio-diesel, they would have to be a lot quieter and we would have to push for some nice saplings to be planted around the tracks.”

We spoke to one driver about the environment, only for him to say: “Climate change? Isn’t that when you go on holiday to a different country?”

Ummmm John Herbgarden....John Marjoram?

Thanks for the plug Phillip - the story about F1 attempting to go green is actually true, though whether they will actually do it or not is another matter !

Rob Sinfield.
