I had every intention of going along to The Vine Tree for the Naomi and Scott goodbye do last night....sadly that wasn't poss....hope it went well....here's the Randwick Runner reports in this week's edition that gives some background:
After 10 successful years of running the Vine Tree, Scott and Naomi are leaving to take up a new challenge. As many readers will know, Naomi is now living in Spain running a bar/restaurant and after the weekend, Scott will be leaving the Vine Tree to join her there. We wish them every success in their new venture. They have made a great success of the Vine Tree and it is very sad to see them go however as Scott says “it’s time for a change. We will never forget our time at the Vine Tree as it’s been so special. We have loved every minute of our time here. We’ve met some amazing people and made some fantastic friends”
However………..taking over the Vine Tree are the new team of Lajos (pronounced Laosh) and Janna. They officially take over on Monday and the pub will be shut for a few days whilst they move in. They will reopen on Thursday night and look forward to meeting their customers soon.
Lajos, originally from Hungary is a trained chef and sommelier and is currently working at a restaurant in Prestbury. He says that he doesn’t plan to make any big changes to the menu until the New Year and will be consulting with customers before designing the new menu, introducing new dishes gradually. Janna, originally from Slovakia will be looking after customers front of house and is looking forward to the challenge.
The Vine Tree is the first time that Lajos and Janna have run their own pub and looked at many different places before choosing to settle in Randwick.
“We have been looking for somewhere suitable for a while but loved the Vine Tree as soon as we walked in. It has great views, a lovely atmosphere and a superb location. We are keen to be part of a village community and look forward to getting involved with finding out what makes Randwick so special. We hope that Runner readers will come and see us soon.”
In welcoming the new tenants, Scott said “Naomi and I wish Lajos and Janna every success and hope they have as many good times as we have had over the last ten years.”
Best wishes to Lajos and Janna from the Runner. Welcome to Randwick and good luck with your new venture.
