Blog Action Day: The Power of We

Founded in 2007, Blog Action Day brings together bloggers from different countries, interests and languages to blog about one important global topic on the same day. Past topics have included water, climate change, poverty and food with thousands of blogs, big and small, taking part. This year Blog Action Day, today is on 'The Power of We'.....what a great title.

People are coming together and knowing more and more the importance of community. Indeed developing strong inclusive communities are crucial to more fulfilling lives for all, but also preparing communities for future challenges like the impact of extreme weather conditions and economic recession. Many of our most challenging issues are interrelated and by working together, positive change is achievable. It is time we looked to the assets and skills in our communities rather than only seeing needs...One local example, and we have many, is the new community kitchen coming together behind Boots in Stroud - all parts of a community including people with mental health issues and people with learning disabilities coming together to set up a garden and a place to eat together.....see my short film here.
