As a Founder member of the Safe Water Campaign for Gloucestershire I have been delighted by news that Southampton City Council has withdrawn it's support for fluoridation of water supplies there - see here. It is also great news that plans to flouridate in the NW have been abandoned due to high costs - see here.
However with all that good news comes some concerns - the new Health Bill is bringing in new wider powers to the Secretary of State for Health. Local Councils will also now play a key role in water flouridation - see here. It is still early days and we have a meeting coming up of the Safe Water Campaign locally to consider implications for Gloucestershire. Do get in touch if you are interested in joining us.
