Green Travel Month begins today

Stroud District Council and Tripswitch have been working to put on a programme that will hopefully build on last year. Tripswitch is a project that developed out of Transition Stroud's Transport Group. This year the focus of the month will be:

· Week 1 Low Carbon Week (June 1st – 6th)
· Week 2 Low Car Use (June 7th – 13th)
· Week 3 National Public Transport Week (June 14th – 19th)
· Week 4 National Bike Week (June 19th – 27th)

Public events will include a 'fun event' on the Sub-Rooms Forecourt, Stroud on Saturday June 12th, and Park and Ride into Stroud Town Centre from Stratford Park and Focus at Dudbridge from 5th – 12th June. There are specific events taking place in some secondary schools and businesses, and town and parish councils are being informed. The benefits of involvement are:

· Raising the knowledge of environmental issues
· Learning how to reduce organisations and individuals carbon footprint and save costs
· Exploring alternative travel options

The website is in the process of being created at www.stroudtripswitch.co.uk
