Retiring from Press Officer role

Last week - no the week before - we had our monthly Green party meeting and it was my last meeting as the Press Officer for the local Green party....but before that I want to mention the exhibition at Star Anise...

Eley Furrell is showing 13 figurative paintings at Star Anise cafe where we have our meetings - highly coloured and naive in style - I really liked them - a couple of these photos here show the work...

Anyway I've been Press Officer for 8 years - can hardly believe it has been that long - amazingly we looked at the out-put during that time and found we averaged over 5 news releases or letters per week during all those years! Clearly I didn't write all those but drafted many and sent out nearly all of them and added them to our website. Infact you can still see most of them on that website.

Photos: folk arriving for meeting and me with a book about water that was presented to me for the years of service!

We have several people taking over from me - one to read the papers, one to coordinate the press and another to manage the website.....It is already quite a change for me not to be looking at our local papers every day - looking to see if a response is needed, looking to see if letters or whatever got covered.....anyhow I'll still get the SNJ and Stroud Life....and indeed I'll still write stuff but I need a break from it all. It will also allow me to have energies for other things.....

You did an amazing job Philip, and for such a long time. Well done, and thank you. Enjoy your new-found spare time! although I'm pretty sure you'll have no trouble filling it.
