Nun speaks out on climate

Blog readers will know that I, like many others, have been seeking a strengthening of the Climate Change Bill.

It was great to read in the SNJ that Sister Euphasia Katambani, 38, from More Hall Convent, Randwick was amongst 300 religious folk from across the country who descended on the Houses of parliament to lobby MPs to increase the carbon emissions target from 60% to 80% by 2050 and to include shipping and aviation.

Sister Euphasia is quoted saying: "The world is being destroyed, and it's happened by our own doing. I was in Kenya recently and saw small streams were drying up, the weather is not the same as it was in the past, I can see the difference. We are meeting our MPs because they can speak for us and make everyone know what's going on."

Hi Phil
Not related to this post but can you up date us on the 37 bus service. Is it being cut to every 20 mins as was in the press. While waiting another 5 mins in itself is not a great hardship it does mean greater pressure on this service as many passengers use it to get to paganhill from stroud and the bus is becoming congested. On tues day of this week while coming into stroud there were three youg woman with pushchairs on the bus one of which was forced to stand with her young children as the bus was full. This service is used quite heavily be the elderly and i would not like them having to stand because of the extra pressure on the service. Please can you leaise with your other local councillors to ensure that this service is not cut. I beleive there are a lot of discruntled users out there but who beleive complaining is pointless. Is there any news on a Tesco bus shelter?

Thanks for this - apols for delay in replying - a power cut, Broadband failure and work got in the way - I will take up bus issue on Monday and talk to others about this possible cut - as for shelter I am continuing to have correspondence with County, Town and Tesco developers - it has been approved - County are in process of consulting on some minor road changes to that junction/roundabout - everything seems to take an age!!
